Woman's Voice Devotional Journaling
Hello friends!
I wanted to show you one of the many ways you can use the art journal packets with your Woman’s Voice Devotional. I took one of the packets and only used about 1/4 of the items in the packet. I decided to go with the garden theme since that is the drawing on page 8. As you can see, I just spent a little time coloring that page with colored pencils. This can be very relaxing and therapeutic! I glued down the music circle which just happened to have the words “garden filled with roses.” I love when that happens :)
I then used the antique seed catalog circle on top of that continuing with the garden idea. I wrote on one of the kraft paper banners the words “tune my ears to hear Your voice” because as I worked through the devotional, that seemed to be what was jumping out at me. I am always wanting to hear from the Lord and I want my ears attuned to the Spirit so that all the other voices become dim and faint.
Another thing that kept coming back to my mind was the peace and joy Adam and Eve shared with the Lord before their disobedience. The life they enjoyed without care of shame or sin, evening walks and talks with the Lord, and the beautiful scenery of the garden, made me desire that kind of communion in my walk with God. So I decided I needed a “Home Sweet Home” sign to remind me of where I want to live. I took a part of the sermon notes and made the sign. Then I ripped down a strip of the kraft paper to make a nice wooden stake. I used a couple of the watercolor hole reinforcements for flowers and drew stems and flowers (with the same colored pencils I used to color the artwork). I thought that the triangle watercolor went so well with the seed catalog that it needed a place to land. I like the way it looks sitting on the banner as if pointing to the words.
I added my own prayer at the bottom that reiterates what I was feeling about hearing His voice and dwelling with Him. The scripture on the music circle is from the packet and reminds me that how I use my voice is important and my main goal is to please the Lord.
This is totally me and my sensibilities! Yours may be different and that is perfect. There is no wrong or right way to use the packets or the devotional. My prayer is that you open yourself up to new possibilities of expression and of study! I would love to see how you are using your art journal packets!
