Prayer Journal - Prophecies

Journaling prophecies can be so rewarding. It is a chance to see how God speaks to us and how we respond. Whenever God speaks prophetically, it is not static and set it stone, but rather demands a response of faith from us. Pray! Ask God about the prophecy and ask Him how you can be involved in seeing it come to pass.

If you have received a personal prophetic word, there are a couple of things that would be wise for you to understand. First of all, who gave you the prophetic word? The Bible says to know those that labor among you. Even if the person that spoke to you is a stranger, there are ways to confirm their gifting. First of all, God has given us an unction in the Holy Ghost. It is His spirit living in us which is the Spirit of truth. Anything spoken to you will agree with that unction. Secondly, the prophetic will always be in line with the word of God. It is very important for you to understand that when you receive a word, you should make sure you are not interpreting it in a way that feels good to your carnal nature, but one that rings true to your spiritual nature. You can discreetly ask someone you trust (like a spiritual leader in your life) if that person can be trusted. It might be that their gifting is young and immature and some guidance about what they are speaking to you would be helpful. This is a place where your spiritual leader can guide and direct and help you to know what God is speaking to you.

Personally, I have not received very many prophetic words from other people. I don’t know if it is because I am married to a man who moves in the gifts, but many times the prophecies I feel to pray about are those he has given to others, or those that are given to the church body. If you watch the video for this particular section of my prayer journal, you will find one prophecy I received over 20 years ago that I still pray for consistently. I believe it will come to pass, and I am looking for the day when it does. It started as a dream, turned into a prophecy and I believe will become a testimony!
