Prayer Journal

You can literally turn any journal or notebook into a prayer journal. Since prayer is a journey, let’s use a journal to pray!  The goal is to create a journal you can hold in your hands, a guide and memorial of sorts. As you look through the journal, you will be lead down prayer paths created by the Holy Ghost and your burden. Your prayer life is personal to you. It won’t look like everyone else, so use these tools as prayer starters and let God lead you into the prayers unique to you and Him.

Here are a few tips that will help you in this pursuit.

  • Be specific. Talk details with the Lord. He is a God of details.

  • Be mindful of your own personality. As you build this journal, you will start to get a feel for what works for you and what doesn’t. If a full page overwhelms you, keep it simple. If it feels right to fill up a page, go for it!

  • If you purchase a Prayer Journal Kit, you will receive labels for each section. Each of the 14 label can be taped, glued or clipped into your journal. I have listed are some ways to use them, but if you want to create your own prayer path, please don’t feel like this is a list of rules! (The label with the word “prayer” on it can be used on the front of your journal or on the first page.)

  • You can totally create a prayer journal without purchasing the kit! Watch the videos and look for blog posts outlining each and every section.

The 13 labels include daily, seasonal, lifetime, dreams, prophecies, places, people, vision, word, strongholds, revelations, truths and testimonies. Each section can be developed to reflect your own personal prayers. If you have ever been to a prayer room or “war” room, it is similar but in a journal.

Since I began to build my prayer journal, I have thoroughly enjoyed using it in my prayer time! It keeps me on track and reminds me to pray for things that I sometimes forget. I am constantly adding things to mine and I love it!
